Dear Hindus and Buddhists,please help?

I am doing my Inter(A levels) privately.I was a very good student at one time.My english was praised by my cl teacher.However,reading about the effects of Dana and Charity,my mind became focused on that.I thought that by doing so,I will reap great rewards and benefits financially.As I observed,there was no benefit or no improvement in my status.In fact,my status kept degrading and in my last November results I got a D and an E.Imagine a boy who used to get A and B grades,has now obtained these grades although I worked exceptionally hard.Can you please suggest a remedy as I am now giving a retake?I feel really disgraced and degraded.Please help me.
