How many who've studied the Bible and been taught by God, not man believe Jesus Christ was slain for our sins?

You are partially right. But you must not discount the shedding of Christ's blood on the cross. It is through Jesus and His blood alone that saves us. It frustrates and discourages many when people make God's simple plan complicated.
