What do i do first, 2nd, 3rd...?

I need to travel to LosAngeles from Midway; I would like to go non-stop...I do not have a clue how to get started...can you help me...and Oh I will only have a carry-on bag and a laptop...thanks(this is for round trip-two adults)...
